SFCC has numerous opportunities for students to create work that gets widely published. The United Way has been working with SFCC students to photograph all of the 23 affiliated service agencies in their network. These photo-reportage images are used by each agency and the United Way on websited, brochures, calendars, and many other ways. Students receive full photography credits for work submitted.
During spring quarter the following students completed an independent study with Ira Gardner titled Documentary photography: Vanessa Hadford, Liz Batallier, Marcia Rapier, Fran Hailey, Ingrid Lindemann-Barrentine, DW Johnson, Jordan Andre, Carlena Hockersmith, and Viktoryia Kuropatko.
The need for images and video is ongoing so if there are any current students interested in creating portfolio quality photojournalistic style imagery, please contact Ira Gardner by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Here is a sample video of work by Ingrid Barrentine that was taken at the American Indian Community Center.
